How long have you been at Gilbert Industries?

Going on 5 years.

 

What brought you here?

Better opportunity!

 

What part of the job do you find most fulfilling?

Working with a good crew and having good supervisors.

 

What is your basic welding process?

First, I start by preparing the material and grinding the rust off. Then, I run the first weld pass, making to have great penetration. Next, I clean the slag off or take the color out, making sure the weld is clean. Finally, I run passes and repeat until the weld meets the requirements.

 

What would you consider your specialty?

Stick welding would be my specialty.

 

What do you like most about working at Gilbert?

The people I work with and going to different places.

 

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Going out exploring, going hiking, and being with my family.

 

What is your professional and educational background before Gilbert?

I served in the Marines.

 

In one word or phrase, how would you describe Gilbert?

Family

 

What’s been your most memorable experience since joining Gilbert?

Coming to the shop, meeting new people, and going to new places.

 

What’s the favorite place you’ve got to visit?

Texas. You don’t realize how big it is until you’re there. There are also so many different landscapes.

 

What is a specific project that you are proud of or that was particularly memorable?

Working the cryo tanks in Arizona. I started my first cryo tank there with Gilbert.

 

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

Professionally: Being able to support my family and be better at my craft.

Personally: Taking care of my family.
