What do you do at Gilbert Industries?

Master Craftsmen

 

What is a typical day for you like here at work?

I work on everything. I come in at 6 and leave at 4:30. I come in and getisor and lay out the day with what I need to do with the supervisor. It usually involves fit-ups, welds, and grinding. I’ve pretty much built every type of tank we offer. From wine tanks to liquid nitrogen tanks to electro-polish tanks. Big and small, I’ve built them all. I’ve been a grunt and a supervisor, attended sales trips, and met with customers.

 

How long have you been at Gilbert Industries?

11 years

 

What brought you here?

The opportunity to travel. I spent 8 years on the road.

 

What part of the job do you find most fulfilling?

Being able to build tanks faster than anybody else. (As a company)

 

What do you like most about working at Gilbert?

The people. It’s a family atmosphere. The ability to talk about anything with anyone.

 

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Hanging out with my daughter, Eva Marie. She’s going to turn 5 in May. And hunting!

 

What is your professional and educational background before Gilbert?

I farmed and then Josh and Jeremy talked me into coming here. Trained on the site and then hired me!

 

In one word or phrase, how would you describe Gilbert?

Making Impossible Jobs Possible!

 

What’s been your most memorable experience since joining Gilbert?

I worked in Washington, flew home for Christmas, and flew over the mountains.

 

What is a specific project that you are proud of?

A 1.3 million gallon tank in Wisconsin. I welded the entire top-head corner seam by myself.

Another memorable project was when Tyrell and I built a 250,000-gallon wine tank in 4 days.

 

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

Professionally: Wherever the job takes me!

Personally: Spending time with my family.
