Employee Spotlight: Steve Gueulette, Shop Supervisor

 

What do you do at Gilbert Industries?

I’m 2nd shift shop supervisor.

 

How long have you been at Gilbert Industries?

This September, it will be 20 years.

 

What brought you here?

Josh Gilbert sought me out and called to ask if I would be the shop supervisor and run the shop.

 

What part of the job do you find most fulfilling?

The large variety of products we produce for projects in a number of industries keeps the job fresh and fulfilling. I also really enjoy training new team members.

 

What would you consider your specialty?

I’ve been in the welding field for 40 years. I guide my team using knowledge, experience, and common sense to create a precise product that reflects the high standards of our company.

 

What do you like most about working at Gilbert?

The guys I work with and that it is family owned, which makes it a comfortable atmosphere.

 

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Gardening and leather work, hunting, fishing, and spending time with my family.

 

What is a project you are proud of and why?

Some of my leather work or metal work and seeing the people’s faces when I deliver the project. I enjoy thinking of a vision of something in my mind and creating it with my hands.

 

What is your professional and educational background before Gilbert?

Graduated high school, served in the Army, and welding degree.

 

In one word or phrase, how would you describe Gilbert?

Feels like family.

 

What’s been your most memorable experience since joining Gilbert?

Showing up as Santa Clause.

 

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

Continued full shop, and smooth orders.
