Employee Spotlight: Lucas Schnieder, Field Supervisor

What do you do at Gilbert Industries?
I'm a field supervisor.
What is a typical day for you like here at work?
Busy, very busy.
How long have you been at Gilbert Industries?
13 years
What brought you here?
Same as anybody else. Provide for my family and travel.
What part of the job do you find most fulfilling?
I guess satisfaction from the customer when you get the project complete and they’re happy.
What do you like most about working at Gilbert?
The camaraderie. You know, we’re kind of a tight knit unit.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Hanging out with my kids and wife, hunting, and fishing.
What is your professional and educational background before Gilbert?
I did a lot of construction; framing, roofing, finish work on houses, and farm work.
What is a particular project you are proud of and why?
The first cryo tank we ever did was years ago. We had never built a tank boiler maker style before, and we figured it out. Anything dealing with cryogenic is complex. Quality has to be very, very good. They are 100% X-ray. They are extremely picky on the cleanliness. They have to be clean enough you can eat off these things. There’s a lot more piping to them. There’s a spiral staircase. They’re big, they’re heavy, they’re just really complex. The way I understand it there’s not too many companies in the United States that build these things. Now, we do them all the time.
What are you most looking forward to over the next year?
Professionally: Training guys, getting them up to par, and building good crews.
Personally: As far as myself, spending more time with my family.
