Employee Spotlight: Kurtis Daugherty

 

What do you do here at Gilbert Industries and what is a typical day like for you?

I am a fitter/ welder/ craftsman and I specialize in small parts mainly building fittings and manways. In a typical day, I just get in and build as many fittings as I can.

 

How long have you been at Gilbert Industries?

I’ve been here for over 17 years.

 

What brought you here?

I’ve known Josh and Jeremy and all of ‘em all my life. I just wanted to work for them.

 

What is your educational and professional background before working at Gilbert?

I worked at Trinity Rail Service in Springfield. I was a welder for them for 9 years.

 

What part of the job do you find most fulfilling?

Breaktime. Hahaha.

No, just being able to work on my own.

 

What do you like most about working at Gilbert?

The people. The friendships I’ve made. It's just a good place to work.

 

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Coon hunting and spending time with my grandchildren. Avery, Macy, Cylea, Quinn, Jaelynn, Easton, Brentley, Thomas, and Dawson. Ball games every night. All of them love to hunt.

 

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

Professionally: Getting better at my craft.

Personally: Winning the UKC World Coon Hunt Championship.
