Employee Spotlight: John Francka- Regional Sales Manager

As a Regional Sales Manager, what is a typical day like for you?
I manage sales for a given region. I give oversight to manufacturing reps as well as see to customers’ needs on a daily basis. On a typical day in the office, I visit with reps and clients over the phone, respond to emails, and estimate projects.
I travel to visit customer sites approximately a third of the time. When I’m on the road, I meet and visit with customers with the ultimate goal of knowing and understanding their business, the project at hand, as well as checking on their family and how they’re doing.
Sometimes it’s a challenge to be able to have schedules coincide with one another but it’s always good to catch up when we can. Visiting with a customer and being able to meet and exceed their needs is very rewarding.
A Lunch and Learn is an opportunity to be able to share with a customer information that is generally very helpful for them in keeping people safe while providing for their needs. It’s a chance for us to meet with a customer and educate them on what Gilbert Industries can do to help their company. Honestly, it’s probably my favorite part of the job because you get to interact with the customer one-on-one.
How long have you been at Gilbert Industries?
13 years.
What brought you here?
Josh, the owner, was looking to expand sales and wanted to bring me on to take on a territory as Regional Sales Manager.
What part of the job do you find most fulfilling?
When I see a lot of projects on the schedule knowing that employees and their families are taken care of.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy working on the farm. Whether I’m mowing, on a tractor, baling, or cutting, I just enjoy it. It’s therapeutic.
What do you like most about working at Gilbert?
I like the team camaraderie. It mimics that of a close-knit family working together. If we see something that needs to be done, we step in and help one another to get it done.
What are you most looking forward to over the next year?
Professionally: Continuing to provide a stable sales foundation.
Personally: I will be taking on more farm responsibilities.
