Employee Spotlight: Caleb Forte, Preprocessing

Preprocessing

What do you do at Gilbert Industries?

Preprocessing. I mainly run the seam welder. I seam-weld the sections together, put them on the floor and grind them, and roll them into the actual shell. I also run the press break.

How long have you been at Gilbert Industries?

3 years.

What brought you here?

A high school teacher. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after high school. She helped me get an interview. After I got the job, I spent months of on-the-job training.

What part of the job do you find most fulfilling?

Seeing the tanks ship out.

What do you like most about working at Gilbert?

The people. They’re just all really fun. They all actually have fun at work.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Bike riding and working out.

What is a project you are proud of and why?

We built tanks solely in the press break. There was no seam welding, so that was really fun. It was uniquely difficult.

In one word or phrase, how would you describe Gilbert?

Enjoyable.

What’s been your most memorable experience since joining Gilbert?

Our first travel job to Nebraska for a Valero shutdown.

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

Getting more into ju-jitsu.
