What do you do here at Gilbert Industries, and what’s a typical day like for you?
I run the plasma table here at Gilbert. Most days, I’m cutting base plates, stiffener gussets, pitch sections, and any other parts the shop needs to keep projects moving. Every day is a little different, which keeps it interesting.

How long have you been at Gilbert Industries?
About 20 or 21 weeks now — time’s flying!

What brought you here?
My dad has worked at Gilbert since it first started 24 years ago, so I’ve basically grown up around this place. When I was a kid, if I got sick, I’d tag along with him to work and sit in his office. He’d hand me a pair of safety glasses and have me sweep the shop floor just to keep busy. After high school, I knew Gilbert treated their people really well, so I decided to give it a shot.
It just feels like where I belong.

What part of the job do you find most fulfilling?
Seeing the finished product. It’s pretty cool to watch the parts I’ve cut come together into a completed tank or vessel — and then see it get loaded onto a trailer, ready to ship out. There’s a lot of pride in that.

What do you like most about working at Gilbert?
Definitely the people. There’s a lot of positive energy in the shop, and everyone works together really well. It’s a place where you can come in, do your job, and actually enjoy the day — it’s a cheerful environment.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I like spending time outdoors — mostly fishing, hunting, and hanging out with my dad and grandpa. That’s where I’m happiest.

What’s a project you’re particularly proud of?
Probably one of our beverage customer bases.

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?
I’m excited to see how much I can grow — learning new skills, taking on more responsibilities, and seeing where I’ll be by this time next year.
